Description
ERUTM64-35 640×512 Uncooled Infrared Thermal Core Module — 35 mm Lens
The ERUTM64-35 is a 640×512 uncooled infrared thermal core module built around a 12 µm vanadium oxide (VOx) detector, paired here with a 35 mm athermal objective. That combination produces a 12.5° × 10.0° field of view and a calculated detection range of approximately 3300 m against a human-size target — a narrow 13° field of view for long-range stand-off observation.
Like the rest of the ERUTM64 (640 × 512) family, the core delivers NETD of ≤35 mK, 50Hz real-time output and <0.85 W power consumption, so it can be embedded in battery-powered and space-constrained platforms without a dedicated thermal design.
Why the 35 mm lens
With a 35 mm lens the field of view narrows to 13.1°, so the same 640 × 512 detector resolves considerably more detail at range. This configuration is chosen when the target is expected beyond roughly one kilometre.
Field of view, detection distance and pixel density on target are all governed by the focal length. The table below shows how the ERUTM64 series behaves across its lens options, so you can match the module to the distance your project actually operates at.
| Model | ERUTM64-9 | ERUTM64-19 | ERUTM64-35 (this model) | ERUTM64-50 |
| Lens | 9 mm | 19 mm | 35 mm | 50 mm |
| Field of view (H × V) | 46.2° × 37.7° | 22.9° × 18.4° | 12.5° × 10.0° | 8.8° × 7.0° |
| Detection (human) | ≈850 m | ≈1800 m | ≈3300 m | ≈4700 m |
| Recognition (human) | ≈450 m | ≈900 m | ≈1650 m | ≈2350 m |
| Best for | widest field of view in the 640 series | the balanced workhorse of the 640 series | a narrow 13° field of view for long-range stand-off observation | the longest focal length in the 640 series |

Designed for OEM Integration
The ERUTM64-35 is supplied as a bare core so that system integrators can mount it directly against their own optics, housing and processing board. With dimensions of 26mm × 26mm × 25mm and the interface set listed above, it fits platforms where a complete camera would be too large.
Integration support covers interface-board selection, communication protocol documentation, lens alternatives, mounting geometry and firmware parameter tuning. Where a project needs a different field of view, the same core is available with other focal lengths in the ERUTM64 series.
Typical Applications
With a 35 mm lens the ERUTM64-35 is most often specified for:
- Long-range UAV observation and border patrol payloads
- Border and perimeter surveillance towers covering open ground
- Fixed thermal cameras for critical infrastructure and substations
- Coastal and waterway monitoring where targets appear at distance
- Portable long-range observation scopes

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the field of view of the ERUTM64-35?
The 35 mm athermal lens delivers a 13.1° × 10.5° field of view for long-range observation. The field of view is set by the 35 mm athermal objective; other focal lengths in the ERUTM64 series are available if your project needs a wider or narrower scene.
How far can the ERUTM64-35 detect a person?
With a standard human target of 1.7 m × 0.5 m and a 2 K temperature difference, the calculated detection range is approximately 3300 m, with recognition at approximately 1650 m. Real-world range varies with target size, thermal contrast, atmospheric transmission and the display or software used for evaluation. Our engineers will run the DRI calculation for your specific target and lens choice on request.
Why choose the 35 mm lens?
With a 35 mm lens the field of view narrows to 13.1°, so the same 640 × 512 detector resolves considerably more detail at range. This configuration is chosen when the target is expected beyond roughly one kilometre.
What is the thermal sensitivity of the ERUTM64-35?
NETD is ≤35mK@25℃,F#1.0, measured at 25 °C with an F#1.0 aperture. Lower NETD means smaller temperature differences become visible, which matters when contrast is low — for example at long range or in humid air.
What interfaces does the ERUTM64-35 support?
Digital video: BT656 / CameraLink / MIPI / USB / SDI (via replaceable interface board). Communication: UART × 2 / RS232 × 2. Supply: 5V ± 0.5. The interface board can be exchanged at the factory to match your processing platform, and the ERUTM64 series supports UART and RS232 control.
Does the ERUTM64-35 support OEM / ODM customisation?
Yes. As a manufacturer we can adapt the lens, interface board, housing, mounting, firmware features and packaging to your project. Custom configurations are quoted individually — send us your target distance, platform, interface and volume and we will propose a configuration.
Request a Quotation
We do not publish fixed prices because every project differs in lens, interface, housing and volume. Send us your target distance, platform type, interface requirement and estimated annual quantity, and our engineers will return a configuration proposal and quotation for the ERUTM64-35.
